Disney Moderate Resorts

The Disney moderate resorts immerse you in the Disney experience for a reasonable price (for Disney). The hotels offer better amenities and larger rooms than the value resorts, but are less costly than the deluxe resorts. For a small increase in price, you can experience a big step up from the Disney value resorts.

The Disney moderate resorts are:

How Do Moderates Compare with Disney Value Resorts?

The moderate rooms are between 314 and 340 (Caribbean Beach) square feet, which is larger Disney value resorts at 260 square feet. Like the value resorts, they have motel-style exterior corridors which are tastefully incorporated into the theme. Rooms have two double beds at Caribbean Beach or two queens at the other Moderate Resorts. Rooms sleep up to four except Port Orleans - Riverside Alligator Bayou rooms which sleep up to five plus an infant.

The moderate resorts feature more amenities the the value resorts, such as boating, sit down restaurants and lounges. The pools are more elaborate with slides and offer hot tubs. Public areas are also more elaborate. Like the value resorts, the moderate resorts also have campfires and nightly outdoor viewing of classic Disney movies.

The Disney Moderate Resorts feel nicer than standard hotel rooms. Bus and boat transportation is offered from the resort. Luggage service is available, but can be slow.

Disney Deluxe Resorts offer better theming, more amenities, larger rooms and a bigger price tag. The Moderate resorts offer a nice compromise between quality and price.

Caribbean Beach Resort

The Disney Caribbean Beach Resort will transport you to the beautiful Caribbean islands. The resort buildings are clustered into six areas recreating the islands of Trinidad, Martinique, Barbados, Aruba and Jamaica. Colorfully themed buildings encircle the lake, which features an island in the middle. The grounds are attractively landscaped.

Caribbean Beach Resort offers boating, fishing, a food court, sit down restaurant and a neat pool. The Caribbean Beach is the oldest moderate resort, but also has the largest rooms at 340 square feet. Resort rooms have two double beds or one king. In 2009 Disney introduced some pirate themed rooms in the Trinidad section of the resort.

Coronado Springs

Disney Coronado Springs Resort is themed in a mix of Spanish, Mexican and America's Southwest. The resort is also a convention center. The grounds are very attractive and has a large peaceful lake. The resort is very large and spread out. Most rooms require walking to the main buildings and amenities.

The Coronado Springs Resort offers a convention center and various amenities including a health club and hair salon. There is a food court and good sit down restaurant at the resort. The pool is a fun recreational area themed after an archeological dig site.

The stylish rooms were last renovated in 2009 and have two queen sized beds or one king sized bed and a flat screen television.

Coronado Springs offers business club level rooms, with turndown service and continental breakfast, and suites.

Port Orleans

Situated on the Sassogoula River, Disney Port Orleans consists of two sister resorts: Port Orleans and Riverside. Port Orleans brings you to the Big Easy, New Orleans. Riverside consists of two separate areas which are reminiscent of the antebellum southern plantations and the rustic Louisiana bayou. Each area has its charm. The rooms are the same in each area except for the different decor reflecting the theme.

Port Orleans is the smallest moderate resort with a more intimate, romantic feel than the others. It is smaller and requires less walking. The rooms are attractively furnished. Port Orleans has a small food court, but no sit down restaurant.

Riverside is a large sprawling resort with lush landscaping. The rooms all offer two queen beds or one king. The Alligator Bend rooms also offer a small pull-down bed, so the rooms in that section can accommodate up to five people. Fanciful Royal Suites opened in the Magnolia Bend section in 2012.

Walt Disney World Sign

The Disney moderate resorts offer better amenities, more recreation and larger resort rooms than the value resorts at a moderate price. All the moderate resorts are well-themed with attractive rooms, beautiful grounds and fun pools.
