The Disney Animal Kingdom Resort is one of the best themed hotels at Walt Disney World. This deluxe Disney hotel is in the Animal Kingdom resort area at Walt Disney World. The hotel rooms recall a luxurious African camp and many rooms overlook the savannah with live animals.
Hotel rooms are the six story thatched roofed Jambo House building on Disney property. There are 1293 regular hotel rooms in the building, in addition to Disney Vacation Club villas from Disney's timeshare. The other building at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Kidani Village, hosts only Disney Vacation Club Villas.
Rooms have two queen sized beds, one king (some also have a day bed) or bunk beds. Rooms have balconies or patios. The hotel rooms at Animal Kingdom Lodge are the smallest amongst the deluxe Disney resorts, except the Wilderness Lodge which has similar sized rooms. The rooms will sleep up to four people plus an infant in a crib.
Animal Kingdom Lodge rooms are decorated with dark woods and colorful bedspreads. The focal point of the rooms really is the savannah. The room decor is attractive, but a bit dark. Standard rooms are 344 square feet.
Check in is 3 PM and check out is 11 AM. All Disney transportation from the Disney Animal Kingdom Resort is by bus.
Rooms come with standard (parking lot), pool or savannah view. I definitely recommend springing for the savannah view room if you can afford it. It provides a totally unique experience of watching live animals graze on the savannah outside your room.I was pleasantly surprised to see animals grazing even at night.
There are three savannahs at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Sunset, Arusha and Uzima. The most preferred is the Arusha savannah which is the largest.
Suites and concierge level rooms are also available.
